What We Believe
The Hickory Hawks as a Private Christian Athletic Program. We adhere to the North Carolina age rules for private schools for football and baseball, which states that an athlete cannot have graduated and turned 19 years old before August 1st.
We are here for home school, private school, and public school young men who want to play sports in a Christian environment. The Hawks are a part of The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and are a non-profit organization founded for the education, training, and enjoyment of football. It is the Hawk's policy that individuals, both players and coaches, associated with the organization conduct themselves in a Christ-like manner.
The essentials of life are learned in athletics. Preparation of 1-6 months is invested before a single game is played. It teaches young people that there are things worth waiting for. Their diligence and hard work is rewarded by pressing together for one goal. Our athletes learn to work as a team, learning to depend on others to accomplish goals that cannot be achieved alone. The hard physical work and spiritual influences of coaches and camaraderie of teammates make men from boys and girls to ladies. The demands placed on these athletes forces them to toughen up mentally, learning to push themselves and they find out what is takes to succeed in anything.
The Hawks are more than football, we do our best to provide an atmosphere where Christian values are in full view. Most importantly, we want to be there for these young people. In today’s world, young people are woefully under served and over looked. We are here to change that.
